It Was Important to Me to Step Up for My Aunt’s Sake

Being single, I have often wondered what would happen to me if I were suddenly to find myself with a chronic illness or a horrible disease that caused me to not be able to rely so much on myself anymore. Recently, I found out that my aunt has cancer, and her husband has not been doing a very good job of caring for her. I was livid when I found out. He was causing her to show up late to her chemo appointment, among other things. I called and set up some scheduled limos to come pick her up and take her home as needed. I could not sit by and just let her miss such very important appointments.

I guess it’s true that I’m lucky in life and have been very fortunate to make the type of money that I do. Not everyone has an easy life, and it’s a struggle for them to make an average amount of money compared to what I have made. It is that knowledge that helps to spur to give back to other when I can. There are plenty of people who need an extra helping hand. When I found out that my uncle was sitting on the couch watching TV programs, instead of putting that on the back burner for his wife’s important appointments, I knew immediately that I wanted to be able to give back to her. She helped to raise me when I was kid.

Knowing that I cannot get off of work easily to take my aunt where she needed to go, I knew that getting her a limo would be the next best thing. I could call her from time to time to check on her. And I also made it a point to show up on the weekends to spend time with her, too. It really made me feel good to know that I could do something for her.
